The process and criteria for pre-existing assemblies to officially become part of Great Awakening International (GAI).
This comprehensive framework outlines the process and criteria for pre-existing assemblies seeking to join Great Awakening International.
Process for Joining GAI
1. Initial Inquiry:
- The assembly expresses interest in joining GAI.
- Initial discussions may occur to understand the vision and mission of GAI and how they align with the assembly's values.
2. Application Submission:
- The assembly submits a formal application, including details about their history, beliefs, governance structure, and membership.
- The assembly must complete the online doctrinal statement available on the GAI website to affirm alignment with GAI’s beliefs.
3. Review Process:
- GAI conducts a thorough review of the application, evaluating:
- The assembly’s doctrinal stance and alignment with GAI’s beliefs.
- The assembly's governance and community impact.
- Confirmation that the assembly has been in existence for at least three years, actively teaching and practicing Torah.
4. Interviews and Assessments:
- Key leaders from the assembly may be interviewed by GAI Guardians.
- Assessments may include the assembly’s practices, community engagement, and overall compatibility with GAI’s mission.
5. Training Process:
- 60-Day Training Program:
- Upon preliminary approval, prospective assembly leaders and mishpacha (family/community members) will engage in a comprehensive 60-day training program facilitated by Dr. Howard and Morah Tawana Howard.
- This training will cover several critical topics, including:
- Code of Ethics: Understanding the ethical standards expected within GAI.
- Doctrinal Statements: In-depth study of GAI’s core beliefs.
- Covenant Agreement/Expectations: Clarification of commitments and mutual responsibilities.
- Structure of GAI: Overview of GAI’s organizational framework.
- Mission and Vision of GAI: Understanding GAI's goals and objectives.
- By-Laws of Theocracy: Familiarization with the governing rules of the organization.
- Autonomy Statement: Understanding the balance of autonomy and accountability within GAI.
- Conflicting Doctrinal Process: Procedures for addressing and resolving doctrinal disagreements.
6. Completion of SHARAT Training:
- Key leaders and mishpacha from the prospective assembly must complete the 8-week SHARAT Training program, which focuses on leadership development and community building within a GAI context.
7. Temporary Affiliate Status:
- The assembly will be designated as a temporary affiliate until leaders from the assembly attend a full cycle of GAI’s three annual Feast Day Events (Passover, Shavuot, and Tabernacles). This attendance will help deepen their connection to GAI’s community and practices.
8. Approval Process:
- The assembly’s application, training completion, and doctrinal statement confirmation are presented to the GAI Guardians.
- A consensus is required for final approval.
9. Integration Process:
- Once approved, the assembly undergoes an integration process, which includes:
- Additional training and orientation about GAI’s mission and operations.
- Establishing connections with other GAI assemblies for support and collaboration.
10. Official Recognition:
- The assembly is formally welcomed into GAI with an official ceremony or announcement.
